In Loving Memory of John C Vingoe Who Died on a passage from the Cape, 9th February 1893 Aged 52 years Far from his native land he closed his eyes 'mid scenes all strange he bow'd his head Now in a foreign grave he lies and sleeps among the stranger dead He only sleeps; 'tis rest from mortal pain Death's but the portal to immortal gain Also of Elizabeth Jane his beloved wife who died 29th September 1873 Aged 32 years Also of Jane Angwin their daughter who died 6th May 1885 Aged 18 years Also of Israel son of John C and Mary Vingoe who died 16th Jany 1908 aged 24 years Heaven is my home Also of Mary widow of John C Vingoe Died Dec 27th 1943 aged 87 years Sleep on, Beloved sleep, and take thy rest Lay down thy head upon thy Saviour's breast We loved thee well, but Jesus loves thee best
